It has become a nice custom of the Parish to have a Reception on Easter Day in honor of Our Lord’s Resurrection. This replaces our usual Coffee Hour and allows us to truly break our Lenten fasts! Please bring a ready-to-serve dish, sweet or savory, to the Parish Hall prior to the 11 AM service. A member of the ECW will be there to accept your dish.

We have found too that we need just as many hands to help in the cleanup after the reception as we do before the reception, so please make a note so we can have a count of how many people will be helping with the tidying up afterwards.

We have a parish Lenten practice of groups hosting soup suppers on the five Wednesdays in Lent after Ash Wednesday. This does two thing in helping keep a holy Lent. First, it brings us together. We share a simple meal of meatless soup or chili, rolls or bread, crackers, and coffee, tea or water. Second, there is a program, usually intended to be informative and to help in our study of the Faith. This year the five talks will be on various aspects of The Eucharist. The talks are intended to be a continuation or further examination of some of the areas covered in our Eucharistic Workshop last month. Father Martin and Father James will lead talks on the following:

Week I: The Church Building and Eucharist Meaning

Week II: Anglican Eucharistic Theology

Week III: Preparation and Tranksgiving

Week IV: Eucharistic Devotion

Week V: Eucharistic Living

The Eucharist is our main form of worship in The Episcopal Church and ought to be the focus of our devotional life as a Christian and to form and inform our lives all through our time on earth. Come and learn how that can happen.

The groups hosting this year’s Lenten soup suppers are:

February 29th: Men’s Fellowship

March 7th: Adult Bible Study Group

March 14th: Vestry

March 21st: St. Anne’s Chapter of the ECW

March 28th: Altar Guild

It has become a great local tradition at Saint Timothy’s for the Men’s Fellowship to gather on Shrove Tuesday and cook heaping mounds of pancakes and sausages so we can eat as much as we can before it all gets taken away on Ash Wednesday. Since we need to use up the meat and butter that we are prevented from eating due to our Lenten fasts and abstinences, we will do well to make our way to the Parish Hall on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 PM and have as much as we possibly can. Everyone is welcome.

Our Church School presents a Christmas Pageant every year at the Family Service at 5:30 PM on Christmas Eve. We are beginning to plan for the Pageant and need to know who will be here that evening to participate. This is a long-standing tradition for our Church School children, and we hope that everyone will be able to take part. Sign-ups have begun for the Pageant Cast; the sign-up is located on the wooden table as you enter the Parish Hall from the bell tower. If you have any questions, please contact Susan Patton at 919-274-2222 or susanpatton@nc.rr.com.

The Parish Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 4th following the 11 AM Service. On that day, we will celebrate both the 9 AM and 11 AM Services and then remain in the Church for the Annual Meeting. There will be no Coffee Hour on that day, but child care will be available. We really would like to have all parishioners take part in the Annual Meeting and exercise their privilege to vote on the business matters of the Parish and read the annual reports of the Parish organizations. To vote at the Annual Meeting, one must be an adult (at least 16 years old) confirmed Communicant. The two major items of business at the meeting are to elect the Vestry and to accept the reports from the organizations in the Parish. Reports should be no more than one double-spaced typewritten page; we want to have copies of all of the reports available before the meeting. All Parish organizations should submit a report, including the Altar Guild, Church School, Choir, Layreaders, Acolytes, Episcopal Church Women, Table Fellowship Groups, Youth Group, Pastoral Care Committee, North Raleigh Ministries, St. Anne’s Chapter of the ECW, Ushers, Men’s Fellowship and St. Timothy’s School.
