Our Church School will be focusing on Stewardship from now through Sunday, October 31st (Touchdown Sunday). We will have pledge cards available for the children, and we will be participating in a Service Sunday on October 17th. We will be assembling backpacks for BackPack Buddies for North Raleigh Ministries. This program provides healthy foods to hungry children at time when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. We will be collecting food from now through October 17th. Please consider having your family purchase the items to fill an entire BackPack. This will help us plan the number of completed BackPacks and give us a count of what items are still needed.
Each BackPack contains 2 cans of vegetables, 1 can of fruit, 2 cans of meat or meat stew (tuna, chicken or ravioli), 2 noodle packs (Easy Mac in the box which we will separate into individual packs, or Ramen), 2 100% juice boxes, 3 boxes of shelf-stable milk (found in the baking aisle), 2 healthy snacks (dried fruit, granola bar, Goldfish crackers), 2 breakfast items (oatmeal packet, small low-sugar cereal boxes, or breakfast bars). Pop-top and individual sizes are best. NO soft tops or high sugar items are allowed in the BackPacks.

The last Church School teachers’ meeting of the 2009-2010 school year will be on Saturday, June 5th at 9 AM. This is a very important meeting for all teachers to attend because we will examine the past school year and look at how we can improve things for the 2010-2011 school year. All teachers should attend so we can hear directly from you what things went well and what things did not.

Our Church School presents a Christmas Pageant every year at the Family Service at 5:30 PM on Christmas Eve. We are planning for the Pageant and need to know who will be here that evening to participate. This is a longstanding tradition for our Church School children, and we hope that everyone will be able to take part. Sign-ups begin on November 15th for the Pageant Cast; the sign-up will be located on the wooden table as you enter the Parish Hall from the bell tower.

We welcome Susan to the staff and very much look forward to having her direct our Church School, nursery and techers this year. She will be assisted by Betsy James who will work with Susan on Sundays. Susan has been working with the Church School on Craft Sundays and now will take over the duties on Sundays and will be in the Church School Office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please give her the prayers and support she needs to run a vibrant and organized program where our children of all ages can learn who God the Father is, how He has saved us through sending His Son, and how he sustains us in His Holy Spirit. This is no small task, and it is in the very capable hands of Susan and Betsy.
