North Raleigh Ministries has an urgent need for volunteers. The Thrift Shoppe is not fully staffed on the 2nd and 5th Saturdays. To help meet this challenge, NRM needs the help of each one of you. They need each church to secure two or if possible three volunteers that would commit to work the 2nd and/or 5th Saturday of every month. The Youth Group will be sponsoring the Episcopal Housing Ministry’s Angel Tree project again this year. If you would like to sponsor a child, please choose a name on Sunday, November 25th during the coffee hour. In addition, the Youth Group is sponsoring the North Raleigh Ministries’ toy drive and food drive this year. You may purchase a toy and leave unwrapped gifts for children under the tree. You may leave non-perishable foods in the designated bins in the narthex.

North Raleigh Ministries is so pleased to have a new volunteer coordinator, Cindy Whittington. She will be responsible for scheduling all the volunteers. Instead of having the second and fourth Wednesday and usually the third Saturday of the month, which are the times that we are assigned, Cindy will be arranging for us to volunteer at times that may be more convenient. We need volunteers from our church that will be willing to work at the various tasks which need to be completed. Pleas call Debbie Nicholas at the church and volunteer. Each church needs to have 16-18 volunteers to run the thrift shop and food pantry and interview clients to determine their needs. Please check your calendars. Even if it is only one day a month, please find the time to help.

We are also pleased that Bayleaf Baptist Church has joined our ministry, and we have included their zip code so to assist their neighbors in need. Trinity Baptist Church is starting an eight-week course called “Jobs for Life” starting October 17th to assist the unemployed to find employment.

During August, your generosity helped feed 135 families and provided over $5,000 in financial assistance to Progress Energy, PSNC and landlords. Thank you for donating your time, talents and resources to North Raleigh Ministries.

Christmas in August was a tremendous success! You donated AND bought beautiful Christmas items. We still have numerous large indoor/outdoor trees and wreaths as well as ornaments. Drop by and see the new items that have been put on the sales floor daily. Your willingness to share with our community is a wonderful witness to our neighbors.

Our Second Annual Back to School Clothes Giveaway will be Tuesday, August 7th from 5 PM until 7 PM. Call 785-9911 to volunteer to help clients and their children pick out some new school clothes.

North Raleigh Ministries needs a Volunteer Coordinator working from home to phone and/or e-mail current volunteers to develop a weekly volunteer schedule. This is an ideal opportunity for a person or couple to donate a few hours each week to North Raleigh Ministries while working from home. Other opportunities are also available; please call 785-9911 and ask for Denise.

North Raleigh Ministries is in need of food for the Food Bank. You can drop the food off with Debbie in the Parish Office during the week or in the donation barrels in the Narthex on Sundays in July. Canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and canned meats are needed. Your generous contributions make a difference in the lives of children throughout North Raleigh. St. Timothy’s is scheduled for volunteering at the North Raleigh Ministries on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday and the 3rd Saturday of each month. We are still in need of volunteers. North Raleigh Ministries will be having a store-wide clearance sale on Tuesday, April 10th. NRM is supporting the Flying Fish Project in collecting items for children and adults in Haiti. For a short time, we will be accepting cribs, car seats, twin mattresses, any baby items, as well as summer clothes, shoes and linens. These items will be used for two schools and two orphanages. Thanks for reaching out to our neighbors in Haiti. HoneyBaked Ham certificates are still available. Contact your NRM representative. We recently assisted twelve families with food in one day. Your generous contributions make a difference in the lives of children throughout North Raleigh. Thank you for donating to our Food Pantry.
