Every Member Canvass Sunday

October 26th, 2008 by Webwright

The Vestry has designated Sunday, November 2nd as our Every Member Canvass Sunday. On that day, we are asked to bring our completed 2009 Pledge Cards to Church and offer them at the Altar. We will have received our Pledge Cards in the mail about three weeks prior to the Every Member Canvass. This gives us time to think, pray and discuss with ourselves and our families what amount we want to give to St. Timothy’s for 2009. These pledges are truly important for a number of spiritual and practical reasons. They are an expression of our thankfulness to God for our Church and what St. Timothy’s means to us. They are our way of living out our Biblical call to return a portion to Him of all that He has given us. We use the Biblical tithe (10%) as the basis of giving. The Vestry uses the amount pledged to the Church to prepare a budget for 2009. They allow the work of our parish to continue and even grow so that many others can worship and practice their faith in this place.

There will be no Children’s Chapel on November 2nd. Please help your children complete their pledge cards and bring your children into the Church for the 11 AM Service. They will join the congregation for the Every Member Canvass and present their pledge cards.

Watch for the time change! Please remember to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night, November 1st.

St. Anne’s Bake Sale

October 26th, 2008 by Webwright

Can you smell it? Can you smell it? If so, the reason is all of the women from St. Anne’s are baking for the November 23rd Bake Sale, which will be held after the 9 AM and 11 Am Communion Services. There will be homemade pies, cookies, breads, cakes, brownies and much more. So come with an empty tummy, and you will find an array of satisfaction. Also, this is a great time for all of us to be together for fellowship! Remember all of the money made from the sale will be used to meet the needs of the Church, so you will be helping to make St. Timothy’s an even better place!

50th Anniversary and Stewardship Dinner and Dance

October 20th, 2008 by Webwright

Please plan to join us for a Square Dance and Barbecue on Saturday, November 8th at 6 PM to celebrate St. Timothy’s 50th Anniversary! There is no cost for dinner; however, we ask that you sign up in advance on the poster in the parish hall or call the Parish Office at 787-7590 and provide the number of family members who will be attending. We will be giving thanks that we have been in our church for fifty years! Please come, bring your pledge cards if they were not returned on the previous Sunday, and celebrate with us. We have much to be thankful for, and St. Timothy’s is at the top of the list.

We are also planning two cooking times at church to help prepare the food. We will meet on Thursday, November 6th at 6 PM and again on Saturday, November 8th at 9 AM. We are in need of people to help with the food preparation set-up and clean-up. Sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin board in the parish hall. Please join us for this time of fellowship and celebration! If you have any questions, please contact Betsy James at 781-3410.

Christian Formation Classes II

October 13th, 2008 by Webwright

Having considered the Book of Common Prayer, its history and content, then the Christian Year, the liturgical calendars, temporale and sanctorale, we now consider the Eucharist, the Church’s supreme act of worship and sacrament.  In the following sessions, we will focus first on the Liturgy of the Word of God, and then the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the Holy Sacrifice and the Real Presence. The concluding session is on Eucharistic living, our response in discipleship and mission. Throughout, we will pay attention to some details, such as vesture, gesture and posture, and the rich symbols employed by the Church.

  • Fourth Session: The Word of God - Meeting God in the Word
  • Fifth Session: The Sacrifice of the Mass - Encountering Jesus
  • Sixth Session: Eucharistic Living - Christian Discipleship

We encourage every parishioner to attend Father Martin’s Christian Formation Classes on Sunday morning at 10 AM in the Parlor. If you are going to be confirmed in the Spring (Confirmation is May 3rd), if you are interested in learning more about the Faith, if you would like to learn more about how worship (especially eucharistically centered worship) is the center of your life, then you will want to be in this series of six classes.

Bobby Asher Golf Tournament is a Great Success

October 7th, 2008 by Webwright

The Bobby Asher Golf Tournament hosted more than forty players and raised over $2,600 for The Asher Scholarship Fund on September 27th. A huge “Thank You” goes out to Warren Grant for all of his efforts in promoting and organizing this event. He had a great deal of help from the members of our Men’s Fellowship, and they too deserve our deep appreciation for their efforts and their participation. The Asher Scholarship Fund is a fine beneficiary for the proceeds of the tournament because the fund make it possible for a kindergartner from St. Timothy’s Church to attend our parochial school.
