A tradition for our children during Lent is collecting money in a Lenten envelope. This year the children will donate their money to Loaves and Fishes. This local non-profit organization runs an after-school program for at-risk children. If you are interested in learning more about this organization, please visit lafchildren.org. Envelopes are available for the children in the Parish Hall during Coffee Hour.

We have a parish Lenten practice of groups hosting soup suppers on the five Wednesdays in Lent after Ash Wednesday. This does two thing in helping keep a holy Lent. First, it brings us together. We share a simple meal of meatless soup or chili, rolls or bread, crackers, and coffee, tea or water. Second, there is a program, usually intended to be informative and to help in our study of the Faith. This year the five talks will be on various aspects of The Eucharist. The talks are intended to be a continuation or further examination of some of the areas covered in our Eucharistic Workshop last month. Father Martin and Father James will lead talks on the following:
- Week I: The Church Building and Eucharist Meaning
- Week II: Anglican Eucharistic Theology
- Week III: Preparation and Tranksgiving
- Week IV: Eucharistic Devotion
- Week V: Eucharistic Living
The Eucharist is our main form of worship in The Episcopal Church and ought to be the focus of our devotional life as a Christian and to form and inform our lives all through our time on earth. Come and learn how that can happen.
The groups hosting this year’s Lenten soup suppers are:
- February 29th: Men’s Fellowship
- March 7th: Adult Bible Study Group
- March 14th: Vestry
- March 21st: St. Anne’s Chapter of the ECW
- March 28th: Altar Guild

It has become a great local tradition at Saint Timothy’s for the Men’s Fellowship to gather on Shrove Tuesday and cook heaping mounds of pancakes and sausages so we can eat as much as we can before it all gets taken away on Ash Wednesday. Since we need to use up the meat and butter that we are prevented from eating due to our Lenten fasts and abstinences, we will do well to make our way to the Parish Hall on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 PM and have as much as we possibly can. Everyone is welcome.
