It is with great honor the Vestry of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church Raleigh, North Carolina, announces the calling of the Father Doug E. Remer as Interim Rector. After spending a weekend with Fr. Remer and his wife, Sterling, the Vestry voted unanimously to call Fr. Remer to St. Timothy’s to lead us during this time of transition and discernment.
A graduate of Rutgers College and The General Theological Seminary, Fr. Remer is a retired priest who, during his almost forty years of pre-retirement ministry, served in the Diocese of North Carolina at parishes in Raleigh and Tarboro, as well as parishes in Utica, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; and Tampa, Florida. He has also served as a priest at two parishes with Episcopal schools. More recently, he has served as an Interim Rector in North Carolina parishes located in Asheboro and Cashiers.
In his letter to our parish expressing his interest, Fr. Remer stated he never views his work as an Interim Rector as that of imposing his own will on the parish, but, rather, assisting the parish to discern God’s will for its future ministry and witness.
Having had the pleasure of spending time with Fr. Remer over the last two weekends, I can tell you I feel a sense of relief, thankfulness, excitement, and hope for the future of St. Timothy’s Church and School.
Fr. Remer will be joining us on February 13, 2018, for our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. He will begin conducting services on Ash Wednesday. I am personally thrilled that you all will have the opportunity to meet him soon.
May God continue to bless St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and School!
