A baptism at St. Timothy's

At St. Timothy's we believe that in Holy Baptism a person (baby or adult) is fully initiated by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church. In this act God adopts us, making us members of the church and inheritors of the Kingdom of God (BCP, pp. 298, 858). In baptism we are made sharers in the new life of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins. Baptism is also the foundation for all one's future participation and ministry in the Church.

The video to the right is an example of a baptism service at St. Timothy's and the step-by-step information below will help you arrange a baptism with us - either for yourself or a loved one.

Process for arranging a baptism

Step 1

Register your interest

We ask all people, church members and guests alike, to email the Church Office to inquire about a baptism.

Step 2

Fill out and return form

Upon making contact, our Parish Administrator will send you a one-page form requesting information like candidate's full name, godparents/sponsors, and contact information.

Step 3

Set a date

Only once we receive the completed form will we then set a date for the baptism during one of our regularly-scheduled services.

Step 4

Meet with the Priest

Before any baptism we request the candidate (or the candidates parents) meet with the Priest to talk through baptism's significance and one's responsibility to grow in faith from that point onward.

Step 5

The Baptism day

We ask the candidate and their godparents/sponsors to arrive at least 30 minutes before the service begins in order to know what to do during the service.

During the service, we issue 2 baptism certificates, give a baptism candle as a gift, and invite you to stay and take pictures with family and guests.
