At St. Timothy's, we are committed to our vision of

Being the Church.

Informed by holy Scripture and Tradition, we believe the Church of God is composed of those from every tribe, tongue, and nation who have entrusted their lives to Jesus and sought to follow him faithfully.  The Bible offers three images to help us understand what the Church is:

The People of God - just as the people of Israel were God's covenant people in Old Testament times, now through Jesus there is  a new covenant, one allowing all who believe in faith to be part of the People of God.

The Body of Christ - a favorite image of the Apostle Paul, this image describes how to Church functions. Every member, each of whom have been given gifts through the Holy Spirit, working together under the direction of the head, which is Jesus himself.

The New Humanity - as Christians we have been made new through our faith, thus collectively, we are a new humanity, living proof that God is making everything new.

Since we desire to be his Church, St. Timothy's seeks to live into this vision by focusing on four key areas, which you can read more about below.

Learning about God

We must learn about God if we are to know God.  For this reason, being shaped by what we learn in Scripture first and foremost, as well as all we glean from those saints who have gone before us, teach us about who God is and what his will is.

Praying to God.

Prayer is how we communicate with God, both individually and when we gather together in worship.  Prayer is not just speaking, but even more importantly, listening for God's wisdom and counsel.

Sacrificing for God.

Jesus gave his life as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. Inspired by Jesus' example, we want to live sacrificially in all aspects lives - from our the way we spend our time and use our talents, to the way we spend our money and prioritize our lives.

Loving like God.

The principal virtue of the Christian life is love.  Also, according to Jesus, the two most important commandments are to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
